Highlights from our Grassroots for Victory USA tour stop

Out of all the exciting things that Grassroots for Victory USA (G4V USA) participated in last weekend, my favorite moment was not what you would expect.  A few of our team members set out in our “Let’s Put “US’ Back in USA” motor coach and headed to Columbia SC to support the We Stand with God Rally.  It was organized by a group of pastors willing to stand up for religious liberty.  The atmosphere was electric as 10,000 Christians filled the capitol grounds.

I noticed that most brought lawn chairs and picnic blankets in one hand and Bibles in the other.  Humble pastors took to the microphone encouraging attendees to stand up for Biblical values in America.  Presidential candidates Ted Cruz and Rick Perry gave rousing speeches as well.  I spent the day interviewing the organizers and participants and I was delighted to see so many young people!  Many of the people I talked to had never been to a “rally” before and had never engaged in this type of civic activity.  It appears that government’s overreach is waking even the sleepiest of Americans.

The next day we headed to Woodstock, GA where the Cherokee County TEA Party was hosting their End of Summer BBQ.  Let me tell you THIS is real America!  Who wouldn’t love a southern BBQ along with potato sack races and an egg tossing contest?!

But I have to say that the highlight of my trip was meeting a woman in her 80’s named Betty in the lobby as we were checking out at our hotel.  She saw our beautiful motor coach outside and we were all wearing our “Let’s Put ‘US’ Back in USA” shirts and she wanted to know what we were doing.  When I told her, her face lit up and she hung on every word.  When I asked her why she was at the hotel she proceed to tell me that her son was in the hospital and that he barely made it through the night.  He had 6 stints put in and went into Afib.  She wasn’t sure how much longer he would be on this earth.  My heart went out to her and I asked if we could pray for her.  She look surprised and said, “Yes please.”  So we quietly surrounded her and asked God for His mercy and strength.  There is no doubt that God was right there with us.  For me, this little act of praying for a fellow American was the ultimate highlight of our trip.

I am humbled and privileged to be working with an organization whose goal is to UNITE America, not tear it down.  I can’t tell you how great it feels to see people flock to our Motor Coach as we pull in to get gas or how excited we get as people honk and give us a thumbs up as they pass us on the highway.  We want to be a voice and a beacon of hope for the tens of millions who still think America is the best country on earth.  To find out more and support our tour please go to http://www.grassrootsforvictory.com/
